New Discoveries Of The Week

What I’m Listening To:

The Positive Head Podcast #627: Pal-Wow with the Ever-Abundant Derek Rydall (Spotify)

I recently discovered this podcast hosted by Brandon Beachum and its a peach.

This episode with Derek Rydall (one that was shouted out) is absolutely amazing. Rydall is one of those people that had a colossally up-and-down life before having some major life revelations and as such he weaves wisdom and story beautifully.

His field of expertise is in abundance, a tricky new-agey area that he navigates expertly with real authenticity and some really great advice.

I picked up two of his books (Emergence + The Abundance Project) which I’m going through over the Christmas break (reviews to follow).

Its a two part episode that’s jam-packed with dreamy quotes to muse on + great advice for reconfiguring your mindset towards abundance.

What I’m Reading:

A Return To Love by Marianne Williamson (Amazon)

I do like Marianne Williamson a lot. She was on the Russell Brand podcast recently dropping some majestic spiritual wisdom about surviving darker times.

A Return To Love is her most popular book, a synthesis of the much weightier Course in Miracles which is kind of a pseudo synthesis of the teachings of all the major religious and wisdom traditions (a summary of a summary if you like).

The clue is in the title obviously but we all need reminding that the answer to all of life’s challenges is love.

What’s beautiful about the book is the way it breaks down our typical defense mechanisms and shows how an inner attitude and response grounded in love releases us from familiar binds and opens us to greater healing and insight.

Its a beautiful, timeless book. Somewhat short on the practical, but overwhelmingly strong on the principle.

Christmas Shopping:

There have been legions of gifts purchased for babies this year but I made some breakaway buys for people that are more in the self discovery domain.

Here are some cool things I found:

JournalStationaryCoffee Holder + Water Bottle

…. and many of these books.

What Happened This Week At Inner Truth?

I hope you’ve had a lovely week + things are calming down into Christmas.

It’s been a pretty incredible year when I look back and reflect that Inner Truth only launched off of my personal Facebook page back in January with a black + white logo and a rather sheepish message from me about talking about self discovery.

When I started, I actually hardly knew more than a handful of people to interview, so I wrote down a list of 10 authors/speakers that I really liked and sent them all a personal note telling them about the idea. I went to bed that night thinking “this is a pretty amateur way to kick things off” and I woke up in the morning to 8 yeses.

Fortune favours the bold I guess?

Of course it was not quite so plain sailing after that. One of those classic moments of the Hero’s journey where you get dangled with just enough carrot to pull you into the cave before the real quest begins 🙂

But ups and downs aside, we now rather proudly stand with a tender 60 episodes for the year(!), thousands of listeners, and many tens of thousands of downloads! I don’t personally do a very active effort at podcast marketing, so that’s thanks entirely to all of your help in finding, listening to, and sharing the podcast with others.

It continues to amaze me who, what, and how people find + listen to it and more so how it affects people’s lives, reframes perspectives, changes conversations, and inspires new action.

I perhaps naively thought it was just a cool way to share information but actually there’s so much more rippling out. I guess we truly only really see 10% of what’s going on in the universe.

Alas, in the spirit of growth and change, next year promises a host of interesting new things in our continuing evolution. There will be live events hosted in London (imaginatively titled ‘Inner Truth LIVE’) with podcast recordings + workshops with some amazing teachers from across Europe (details to follow…)

There will also be a new, very intimate podcast format featuring members of the community talking about their self-discovery experiences so you can peer inside retreats / mystical experiences / and all sorts of amazing things that you rarely hear about. If you or anyone you know has an interesting story to share, get in touch via email or Instagram 🙂

Lastly, I’ll also be going much further into creating transformational content next year including writing a book on self-discovery, creating a truly pioneering course to help you discover and live your soul’s calling, and of course continuing with the solo podcasts of some of my self discovery experiences and life learnings along the way.

So lots of brilliant things coming out for you to enjoy as and when it fits your flow.

For now, to close the year and to say a huge thank you for all of your support, time, and attention in listening to and engaging with Inner Truth this year, I spent the last week going back over all the podcasts of the year and picking out the best moments of Inner Truth.

In this 2-hour Christmas special, I curated some of the best wisdom that was shared over the course of the year and weaved it into a narrative that tries to speak to a full arc of the human experience.

It covers just about everything from connection to community to love to fear to purpose to destiny to loss to triumph, and everything in between!

If you bookmarked and missed an episode, got caught up in other things, or just want to sit back and take in some incredible stories over the Christmas period, this episode is for you.

I sincerely hope you love it.

And so with that, all there is left to say is have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!

We’ll be back on 8th January with a host of amazing speakers right out of the gate.

And lastly the quote I’m reflecting on…

The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.
