The Talk
Jemma Foster is a forager, chef, mixologist, practitioner of plant and vibrational medicine, and founder of MAMA XANADU, a multi-disciplinary botanical studio based in London.
At the centre of her work is a core desire to restore our vital connection to nature which holds the key not only to maintaining sanity and balance in an increasingly chaotic world but to our survival on the planet.
In this conversation we explored her early interest in plant consciousness and how this expanded with her interest in the cosmos to unite the common saying “as above, so below.” Intersecting sacred geometry, astrology, and herbology, Jemma has become one of the leading practitioners of plant medicine in the UK.
For the uninitiated (myself included!) in this topic, here are some fantastic books from Jemma’s collection to dig deeepr:
General Herbology:
- Secret Life of Plants – Tompkins and Bird
- The Hidden Life of Trees – Peter Wohlleben
- The Green Pharmacy – Barbara Griggs
- Weeds in the Heart – Nathaniel Hughes
- The Lost Language of Plants – Stephen Harrod Buhner
- The Cosmic Serpent – Jeremy Narby
- Brilliant Green – Stefano Mancuso. Alessandra Viola
- The Language of Plants – Monica Gagliano et al.
- Plant Herbology – Michael Tierra
- Evolutionary Herbalism – Sajah Popham
- Herbs and Astrology – Leon Petulengro
